Darrell Harding is an Edinburgh based DJ, club promotor, stage technician and door man. He’s a no nonsense gentleman that dishes out sound logical statements in all aspects of his many guises.
He grew up listening to bands like Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, Nirvana and (early) Foo Fighters. Seminal artists like David Bowie and Jimi Hendrix also played their part. He was inspired greatly by his mother who would tell him that if he put his mind to something he’d be able to accomplish anything ………… and to take no shit from anyone. His focus, drive and determination all stem from her.
He’s always been a fan of electronic music, frequenting legendary clubs Pure, Dogma and Pillbox while they lasted. The following years were a barren wilderness for his clubbing boots as he didn’t venture out much. After six long years he met friends Andy Hay and Ritchie Bryson, together they started hitting the clubs. These two instigators noticed Darrell’s interest in electronic music and started to teach him the art of vinyl wizardry.
Andy had a house night called Attend which is where Darrell first played to a larger crowd. A couple years later in 2009 the three of them formed Pulse. The night progressed slowly due to them being allocated a Tuesday night slot, but their fortunes turned around when they were granted a regular Saturday night instead.
Their first couple of years saw them book amazing acts like Green Velvet, Dave Clarke and Agoria. However, their club almost folded due to work and time commitments, so from 2012 Pulse was ran solely by Darrell, making way for the club to become a purely techno night.
Since then he’s played alongside brilliant artists including Blawan, Ansome, Vitalic, Perc and Chris Liebing to name a few and he’s played many clubs and festivals over the years including Dogma and T in the Park.
Darrell continues to push Pulse forward, booking amazing artists and holding fantastic resident nights. As long as he’s having fun, he’ll keep on banging on the door of good music.
